THE SUPER NATURAL WOMAN

The Super Natural Woman is a allegorical apologue that follows a shipwrecked alien’s struggle to build a life in a large urban city on earth all while striving to understand the strange ways of the humans that reside in it. She quickly finds out the hard way that having power on this planet is both a blessing and a curse socially, when she unintentionally “kidnaps” a young girl during a flying tour of the city and is confronted by local law enforcement. The misunderstanding that ensues sends her life into a whirlwind of trouble that forces her to battle against what seems to be the world itself.

Her name refers to her moral stance against portraying herself as anything but a “natural black woman”. This includes her appearance, her diet and her lifestyle. She is immensely powerful and has the potential to become near invulnerable to all physical damage, but not immune to the everyday stresses of living in American society.

The Super Natural Book One KickStarter was super successful! Thank you to all those who supported and backed the project! The initial goal was to raise $4,500 to produce the FIRST Chapter of the comic series. This will cover time to spend working on the comic and reward items as well as printing and shipping expenses. This is the bare minimum needed. The first issue of the comic consists of 22 pages of story, a character bio section and fan art gallery section, so any additional funds above the initial $4,500 will allow me to work on more issues of the comic, as well as collaborate with other talented artists to speed up productivity.

Super Natural is relatively new to this planet and has found herself in harsh adjustment to the ways of American culture and life. She will soon find that power breeds much more than just the ability to assert your will, but also fear and sharp critique from those that lack such power. She will have to deal with the media, the local law enforcement, the military and the US government itself as she learns firsthand that being powerful has powerful consequences. The first few books will be an origin story of sorts, an introduction to who Super Natural is, where she comes from and her daily life and reasons for being on earth.

Super Natural is more than a character at this point in her creation, and embodies many wonderful positive themes that comic readers both young and old, male or female can benefit from. Her story will address dozens of tough issues that very few comic publishers have ever dared to touch and I believe such a story is needed more than ever in these times.

MAIN CHARACTERS

One of the closest and most valuable relationships that Super Natural will form very early on in her story will be with an amazing 5 year old named Deja Popper. Not only will Super Natural learn about the basics of earth and culture through this child(even though some of those basics will be flawed at times), Deja will be the very one to introduce the concept of becoming a superhero and what it means. LaShawndra Popper is Deja’s mother, and she’s not at all too happy about her daughter’s “friendship” with Super Natural. While she is an outstanding example of a hardworking single mother, LaShawndra has lived a rough life and is swift to shut down any ideas that go against her own no matter what. She wants what’s best for her daughter and has been banished from at least two elementary schools for her sharp criticism of Deja’s previous teachers. Sparks will fly in her opposition to Super Natural even remotely being near her daughter.

The Baloguns have lived as successful farmers for over 40 years until their health began to deteriorate. Their relationship with Super Natural started off simply as a supplier of fresh produce, but quickly formed into something very personal as she volunteered to help tend the land and other physically taxing responsibilities around the farm. Very few others have a such a intimate relationship with Super Natural to the point where she considers them as family. Wisdom is the invaluable gem given by the Baloguns and will help ready Super Natural for the worse to come.

Karren Harrington is a rockstar news anchor for Garrison City (the densely populated metropolis home to Super Natural). A brilliant and hardworking woman, Karren fought her way to the top of her profession and field never once looking back for those she trampled on along the way. Her calculating ways and willingness to play the game of the industry, has placed her among the top names of some of the most influential people in Garrison City. Not very soon after the emergence of Super Natural, Karren made it her personal mission to unravel the mysteries behind the powerhouse and defame her at all cost. Her passion may soon turn poisonous though as Super Natural’s intellect will often trump her attempts at trying to turn the people of the city against her.
