6th poster in my fan fiction Black Panther / Thundercats crossover. “Emancipation Proclamation”
A low cackle swelled into roaring laughter saturated with insanity from all around, cutting through the silence enveloping the grand hall of the temple as T’challa and Panthro entered. Panthro’s eyes found the panther kings’ and with one name confirmed the source. Mumm-Ra. Black Panther softly nodded and went back to scanning the torch-lit environment. The evil spiritual energy vibrated and whipped through the very seams of the king’s armor with each progressive step toward the center of the room. T’challa suddenly stopped and motioned to Panthro to halt with an extended arm as his eyes met the giant statues surrounding a water filled alter. It was here the energy was most piercing and T’challa knew they had arrived.
Again Mumm-Ra’s voice echoed the room, directly addressing the warriors as they paused. The evil priest proclaimed that he has been awaiting the arrival of this new source of power for days now. Just then, blazing red eyes radiated from the darkness revealing the location of the voice. He went on to explain the futile mission to rescue the Thundercats and that he would finally hold his long sought after treasure, the Eye of Thundera. Mumm-Ra’s steps shook the ground as he crept out from the shadows into the light in front of Black Panther, towering high above the Wakandan king. The Sword of Omens glistened in the low light, now pointing at the chest of Mumm-Ra. The muscle-clad sorcerer’s grin spread wider as he thanked T’challa for delivering the final pieces to his plans.
From the four corners of the alter room, demonic voices blared out commanding Mumm-Ra to destroy the sword. Black Panther stood upright and directed his gaze to the now glowing eyes of the giant stone totems, confirming what could only be the voices of the Ancient Spirits of Evil Jaga had informed him about. Mumm-Ra’s hand filled with sparkling bolts of red lighting as he raised it high above his head laughing maniacally. A whooshing slice of wind pushed back the loose bandages hanging from Mumm-Ra’s neck as T’challa flung the Sword of Omens to a pinpoint under his neck. You are a slave. T’challa’s words stunned the evil priest and caused him to stagger backwards. Black Panther stepped closer and proclaimed that he was the King of the Dead and he has come to set free all captives held inside these ancient walls. Shocked and unsure of how to respond, Mumm-Ra looked to Panthro with his face twisted with confusion.
T’challa confidently declared that he will unchain Mumm-Ra from the control of the Ancient Spirits of Evil once and for all, for ALL spirits are his to command. More to come.
