5th poster in my fan fiction Black Panther / Thundercats crossover. “Rescuing Kings.”
R.I.P. to the talented actor Earle Hyman, who voiced Panthro and various characters. He will be missed as he helped to shape lasting memories of this iconic character.
Donning his new Vibranium weave suit, Panthro was hard pressed to contain his excitement. That isn’t say that he didn’t try. He paced back and forth in front of a large mirror randomly, pausing to admire a different section of his new armor. Looking over his shoulder each time as if to avoid detection from his fellow teammates, he would pretend that he was in fact adjusting his armor. Obviously, no one was there. This fact quickly sobered Panthro to the reality at hand, as he paused staring down at the polished floor around him. It was time to bring his family home.
Mounted with purpose and strategy, the two warriors sat at the helm of their respective battle tanks and blazed a trail of smoke and debris over the horizon. Black Panther went over the plan of action one last time as Panthro confirmed all steps. The two would have a full out battle waiting for them at the entrance to Mumm-Ra’s pyramid temple, and no shortage of a rude welcome once they attempted to free the Thundercats. T’challa mentioned as a final note the additions he made to Panthro’s nunchaku while finishing up the experiments with the Sword of Omens. Trace amounts of vibranium were left over from the experiment, so he grafted the pieces in choice locations critical to enhancing strike damage. Panthro chuckled as he approved the face lift on his weapon, admitting that he in fact felt the difference in weight.
Upon their arrival, they found a small legion of mutants and monsters camped at the front step of the temple. This was a threat best handled by the mechanical battle tanks. Screams and crunching sounds were plenty as the warriors plowed through the welcoming party. Before long, they stood atop a mound of defeated foes staring at the entrance doors, which were oddly enough cracked open. They looked over at one another briefly, confirming the suspicious anomaly before jumping down from their tank cockpits. It was as if they were expected, but upon slowly opening the door, a deathly stale and silent air swallowed them as they entered. More to come.
